Woodblock

One of the oldest print techniques on earth. The image is carved into a block of wood — the raised areas get inked, the carved-out areas stay white.

Paper goes on top, pressure gets applied, image transfers. Simple in theory, unforgiving in practice. Every mark made in the carving is permanent.
